About Us

Our certified and experienced instructors will help you reach your peak fitness level, challenging you to build a stronger, leaner, more flexible body. At OnCore Pilates Studio we believe in exercise integration, therefore encouraging our clients to combine a variety of core exercises into each workout, providing a total body experience that will maximize your fitness potential while honoring the methods of Joseph Pilates teaching.

Pilates Reformer

We are passionate about teaching the Pilates method with integrity and personal attention. Pilates Reformer will improve your posture, balance and core strength while creating toned muscles for a longer, leaner, stronger body!

Tower

A total body workout done on a spring-based apparatus derived from the Cadillac. This system creates a strong core and a deeper level of pelvis stabilization with fluid movement. It will tone and lengthen muscles as well as help with balance and posture.

Chair

The most athletic piece of Pilates equipment. It will build strength in both the upper and lower body while challenging your core and your balance. This is a great apparatus for athletes!

TRX

This suspension training system requires the body to use muscle strength to control its center of gravity during movement. TRX training develops core strength using functional movements and dynamic positions that specifically target core muscle groups while working the entire body.

Lori Valentin

Owner/Certified Instructor

Lori Valentin, OnCore Pilates Studio owner and certified instructor, has been working full time in the fitness industry for over twenty years in the Bergen County, New Jersey area. Lori began working as a fitness instructor at Woman’s World Fitness Center in Midland Park, NJ and soon became certified through the New England Institute of Physical Fitness. Lori successfully operated a fully equipped gymnastics school in Ringwood, NJ from 2000 to 2006.

Lori’s experience on the Pilates Reformer machine is a testament to this workout’s benefits, as it has helped to alleviate her long-term struggle with lower back pains through powerful core strengthening, as well as toning and reshaping her body. Lori was certified in Pilates Reformer in 2007 and has since taught over 6,000 hours. Lori’s most current certifications include: 'Power Pilates' Comprehensive Apparatus Teacher with full knowledge of the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced system utilizing the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chairs, Barrels, Ped-o-pull, and MagicCircle.

Nancy Sgambati

Certified Instructor

Nancy has been instructing for over two decades. She's certified through AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) since the early 90's. Her specialty fitness certifications include: Step Aerobics, Spinning, Senior Fitness, Silver Sneakers, Body Pump, Rowbics, Pilates, TRX, and Pilates Reformer. Her love of instructing has spanned through three counties in the Metropolitan area. Her group classes include everything from high-impact cardio to Pilates-Yoga Fusion. She believes it's not about how high you can jump or how much weight you can lift. It's all about form, and performing the movement with exact precision and correct form. Her belief: Exercise is the fountain of youth.

Alexis Achtau

Certified Instructor

Alexis holds a full comprehensive certification in classical pilates on all apparatus including Reformer, Chair, Tower, Cadillac, Barrel and Magic Circle with full knowledge of the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced System. Alexis enjoys continuing her education by frequently attending workshops which include “Special Cases”, “Props”, “Super Advanced Reformer” and “Pre/Post Natal Pilates”. She received her education just a few blocks away from Joseph Pilates original studio in New York, at Core Pilates NYC. She is also qualified in TRX suspension training

Steven Sgambati

Certified Instructor

Steven Sgambati is a Certified Pilates Reformer Instructor, TRX Certified and Personal Trainer. Steven began his personal trainer apprenticeship at the age of 20 through the IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilders).Steven has been using this workout for the past 30 years bringing onsite training to numerous organizations and individuals including police officers and firefighters. This lifelong passion of helping others with physical fitness has taken on a new dimension since Steven was introduced to Pilates.

Jodi Scardino

Certified Instructor

Jodi is a Certified Pilates Instructor educated from the Balanced Body University. Jodi’s passion for Pilates began with a bodily injury that paved the path for her recovery through the methodology demonstrated through the Pilates principles. Jodi’s experience has fueled her desire to become a versatile instructor, skilled to adapt to develop her clients’ strengths and improve upon their weaknesses, while ensuring an overall effective Pilates workout.

Rosemary Pecoraro

Certified Instructor

RoseMary holds a full comprehensive certification in classical pilates on all apparatus including Reformer, Chair, Tower, Cadillac, Barrel and Special Cases and props with full knowledge of the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced System She frequently attending workshops which include “Special Cases”, “Props”, “Super Advanced Reformer” and “Pre/Post Natal Pilates” in which she holds a separate certification. She is also qualified in TRX suspension training.

Eva Alberta

Certified Instructor

Eva Alberta is a Core NYC certified pilates instructor, trained TRX specialist, and personal trainer. She began her fitness journey over 30 years ago at Montclair State University where she was introduced to fitness, wellness and nutrition classes. Eva was introduced to Pilates Reformer classes 6 years ago after many injuries and work-out limitations, and it instantly became her passion. “I can say without hesitation that Pilates is THE BEST work out for every part of your body and mind. The gains in core strength, flexibility and mobility are second to none!
